Flores is a small atmospheric town on an island in the lake named Lago de Péten Itzá. The Mayas founded Flores and it was the last place to be conquered by the Spanish. At that time the town was full of temples and pyramids, but the Spanish has most likely destroyed them and the town as it is today, has been built on the old Maya monuments.

The Grutas Actun-Cas Grottos are limestone grottos with impressive structures. There are guided tours of the grottos and it is a good idea to bring a flashlight. The area surrounding the grottos is very nice and has many trails for those who wish to take a walk and enjoy the landscape.
