Last day in Jinja

18th Dec

got up about 8.30, woman brushing floor outside good time to get up.
had a little accident with the water bottle in the dark during the
night, was trying to use the lid instead of the bottle neck!
had a shower, met up with Francine and Eden on the veranda, a call to
Amos confirms a 10.45 pickup, I have an hour. I put my washing on the
line. Breakfast and photos at somosa shop, bought water and couple of
chaparties to take away. contrast between the big iron gates and
interior of the camp and the surrounding area is striking.

back to camp, checkout and settle bill. The place has been expensive
with hindsight, accommodation and the food and not particularly
helpful since i was trying to do something they did not offer. it is
annoying but i guess they are running a business but the price
differences are huge. the campsite NRE (Nile River Explorer)is quite
extensive an superb views and activities that I havent been interested
in, lots of kayakers and rafters here. The facilities are however not
nearly as clean as some of the smaller sites, no soap and floor
permanently covered in red clay. there are clearly cheaper and more
authentic food and accommodation available but you cant beat the view
from the veranda. Last night stood on the veranda once for the last
time then suddenly feel things bumping into me, I am in the path of
flies heading for the lights on the veranda, I get out of the way.

I am soritng my stuff out and waiting on Amos, Eden gets an email
saying his friend wont be arriving till tomorrow, so no sharing the
cab. I arrange my own pickup with Amos for $50 fo r 1 p.m., and put
out the washing again! better than packing and having them smell. I
have the option of going into Jinja town for couple of hours before
setting off to airport Entebbe, but decide to stay and sort myself
out. Have given up on trying to load up onto my travel log from this
computer and am keeping stuff on Google. May even consider changing
travellog host since it only allows 2Mb photos max.

I have another week of malerone after leaving Africa. I have had the
Malerone effect every day, tummy upset sometimes 2-3 times per day,
starts within couple of hours of taking it. This has been very awkward
when stuck on a truck that wont be stopping for a while.
