Mohammedia

Mohammedia is a popular spot near Agadir. The city is a modern seaport. It has a lot of industry, e.g a fish factory. Apart from this swimming is good in the areas around the city.

Casablanca

Shopping

Casablanca is a good place for shopping. It offers expensive quality merchandise as well as inexpensive leather goods. Especially the old district may tempt you if you are into inexpensive goods. Here everything is offered at floating prices - it all depends on your peddling skills.

The King Hassan II Mosque

The King Hassan II Mosque is the largest mosque in the world. It was consecrated as late as in August 1993. The main elements of the mosque are marble from Agadir and granite from Tafraoute and it's one of the most beautiful and striking buildings in the world.

The Old District

Even though Casablanca is a modern city it also has an old district. It's a nice area with tiny houses and a market. However, it is inhabited by a lot of people and is rather crowded, so watch your valuables.

Marrakech

Badii Palace

The Badii Palace has been considered one of the wonders of the Muslim world for a long time. It was the regent Ahmed El Mansour Dahbi who ordered the construction of the palace in 986. Sixteen years later a beauty of a building was built.

Dar Si Said museet

Another of the wonders of Marrakesh is the Dar Si Said Museum which houses original Moroccan art. Here you'll see amazing treasures, for instance the gold- and marble treasures of Ahmed El Mansour (regent 1578-1603).

The old District

Djemaa el-Fna is the beating heart of Marrakesh. The square in the old district is a ravishing ant's nest. Here you'll meet storytellers, snake charmers, magicians and acrobats. There's always something to look and wonder at and you may pass many hours just looking, smelling and tasting. Moreover, the old district also contains many other attractions in the shape of mosques and museums.

Morocco

Fès

Fès is an old, impressive city. It was built back in the 8th century and is surrounded by more history and mystique than any other city or area in Morocco. For instance, visit the Royal Palace or Karaouine University which is older than Oxford University.

The area around Agadir

Several villages on the Mediterranean coast near Agadir are worth a visit. Try for instance Asilah, the fishing village and experience Hercules' caves at Cape Spartel. The town Tetuan is also worth a visit as it provides a view over the Mediterranean Sea from its position on a mountain slope.

The Beaches

The Mediterranean coast between Tangier and Nador has a wealth of small bays, beautiful cliffs and lovely beaches. This stretch is worth a visit if you are into water activities and love fishing, swimming and sailing.

The Rocks at Dadès Gorge

About 100 kilometres east of Ourazazate lies the fantastic ochre rocks of Dadès Gorge. A sight you shouldn't cut during a visit in southern Morocco.

Rabat

Souika Street

Souika Street is one of the liveliest streets in Rabat. Here you'll find the many foundouks, the traditional Moroccan cafés. If you want to shop for leather you have also found the right street. Sebbat Souk is a shoe market.

The Ancient City of Chella

Behind the city walls, which surround the old district in Rabat, you'll find the remains of the ancient city of Sala or Chella. In Chella you'll find the greatest and most amazing archeological museum in Morocco.

The Kasbah des Oudaias Palace

Kasbah des Oudaias is a former palace with a view over the Atlantic. Today the palace is a museum of traditional Moroccan art.

Tour Hassan Mosque

The Tour Hassan is the most famed building in Rabat. The building was begun by Yacoub al-Mansour but an earth quake brought construction to a halt in 1755 and for this reason the mosque is incomplete today. At the same time you can also take a look at the Mausoleum of Mohammed V which is right next to the mosque.

Southern Morocco

Rachidia

Rachidia is the capital of the Tafilalt region. There's a bustling market on the main street. And on your way from Rachidia to Erfoud you can also visit Cirque de Jaffar's old amphi theatre.

The desert village Ait-Ben-Haddous Ksar

A Ksar is originally some sort of mini-village or home of the desert people. Ait-Ben-Haddous Ksar, situated in southern Morocco, is on e of Morocco's most famed of its kind and it has set the scene in several films such as Lawrence of Arabia.

The former French Garnison Ouarzazate

The former French garnison in southern Morocco can be reached via an incredibly beautiful road from Marrakesh across the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Ouarzazate is a good starting point if you want to move further into the southern part of Africa.

Tinerhir area

Tinerhir was once home of the French Foreign Legion. This place is worth visiting because of the amazing wiew of the Draa Valley.

Tafraout

Tafraout

Tafraout is one of the most beautiful cities in the Agadir area. It is almost 200 kilometres away and road communication is good. The area has a wealth of almond- and olive plantations and a range of quiet shadowy gardens. In the shadows of the walnut trees in Tafraout you'll have peace and quiet like nowhere else in Morocco.

Tangier

Grand Socco market

Grand Socco is Tangier's colourful and dynamic market which is always open. If you want to make a good bargain or want to try the art of peddling just for fun you should visit Grand Socco. Especially leather goods are cheap if you make an effort.

The Medina

In the old city, or the Medina, you can visit the sultan's palace which is now a museum of Moroccan art. Among other things you could also visit the great Sidi Bounabi Mosque.

Tours in the area

Tangier is a good starting point for a nice outing. Not far from the city you can visit the small mountain village Chechaouen, the fishing village Asilah and Hercules' caves at Cape Spartel.
