Ponce

The art gallery

The art gallery with the famous stairs is worth paying a visit. Here you'll find pieces of art covering the period between 300 BC and up till the present. Moreover, the gallery has an American, a Spanish, and a Puertorican garden.

The Delicias Plaza

In the shaded plaza of Las Delicias, fountains and trees are surrounded by a church and a Fire station; the buildings held in black and red. The fire station dates back to 1883, and next to it is located an institute for culture and a tourist center.

The town museum

The town museum has a guided tour in English, Spanish, and French. Here you can get an impression of the history of the town through photographs, documents, and other objects donated by the locals.

The El Yunque Rainforest

In the Luquillo Mountains east of San Juan, the rainforest of Puerto Rico stretches as far as the eye can see. Here you'll find more than 240 different tree sorts and a bird sanctuary.

The Phosphorescent Bay

This bay, located on the west coast, is quite a sight to behold. The microscopic plankton become luminescent when disturbed by movement in the water. The luminescent particles are especially clear on moonless nights, and the phenomenon is rarely seen outside this exact bay.

The Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center

The place was originally an ancient Indian burial ground, but now a museum and a reconstruction of a Taino Indian village are located here. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday between 09:00 a.m. and 04:00p.m.

San Juan

The Dominican Convent

This building dates back to the 17th century, and has among other things served as the headquarters for the American army. Today the building houses the Institute for Culture that includes both an art gallery and a courtyard where cultural arrangements take place all the time.

The old quarter

San Juan's old quarter was founded in 1521, and you can still find many of the original houses and buildings dating back to the 17th or 18th century. In the narrow streets of the old quarter, you'll find art galleries, small cafés, and numerous music performances taking place. In addition, this is where you'll find the old Spanish fort of El Morro that dates back to the 17th century.

The Quinto Centenario Plaza

This modern-style plaza was founded on occasion of the 500-year anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America. From the top of the stairs with the contemporary fountain, there is a fantastic view over the El Morro. Seen from here, the sunset is rather extraordinary.

The White House

Casa Blanca was built in 1523 by commission from the family of Ponce de Léon that lived here for 250 years. Later it was used for both Spanish and American military purposes. Today the building houses a historical museum that definitely is worth paying a visit to.
