The biggest event, taking place in Venice, is undoubtedly the Carnival in February. The Carnival is a ten-day celebration where people dress up in colourful costumes and parade around in the city. Moreover, the Festa del Redentore is an annual celebration, taking place the third weekend in July, where a spectacular firework draws quite a crowd. On the fist Sunday in September, a gondola race is being held on the Grand Canal. Apart from all the different celebrations, Venice has numerous museums and galleries that are worth visiting.
