Travel guide to Ankara

Local name
When it is 12.00 in England, it is 13.00 in Ankara.

Best time to visit

Summertime isn't a good time to visit Ankara, as the city gets excruciatingly hot and, as it is situated in the middle of the country, you can't just go cool down in the sea. Spring and fall are the best times to visit the large city, as the winter can get very cold.

Culture and entertainment

Ankara has many interesting museums and palaces, and is also known for its cultural events, such as ballet, theatre, folk dance and classical concerts. In April, Ankara holds two festivals: The Arts and Music Festival and the Children's Festival.

Accommodation / Hotel

Ankara has plenty of places to spend the night, from humble pensions to luxury hotels. There are camping sites just outside of the city, but the facilities are rather poor. A cheap and acceptable solution is private accommodation. Book your hotel in Ankara here
