Attractions from Atlanta

Attractions from

Buckhead (Atlanta)
Buckhead is one of Atlanta's most fashionable quarters with expensive hotels and restaurants, and this is where you will find some of the most beautiful architecture in the city. Here you will find the Brookwood Railway Station from 1917, which is one of the last train palaces in the country. In this area you will also find the Cathedral of Christ the King from 1938, which is also an impressive aesthetic experience.
Downtown (Atlanta)
A large part of Atlanta has been rebuilt after the Civil War, and most of the city center now looks like a modern city, where you, for instance, can visit the headquarters of the famous TV-station CNN. There are still quite a few remains left, though, and Downtown you can find the State Capitol from 1889, one of the most extraordinary historical buildings of this city. It is possible to get a tour of the building, which holds several exhibitions, too.
Sweet Auburn (Atlanta)
For many years Sweet Auburn was a closed town inside the city of Atlanta. This was where the Africans lived, and they weren't allowed to go into the white Atlanta. This is no longer the case, but this part of town is still home to the life and culture of the African Americans, and there are many interesting things to visit. One of them is the African American Panoramic Experience, which has several exhibitions about the history of the area. This is also where you will find the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, built in the honour of Martin Luther King, born here in 1929. Det er muligt at komme på rundtur i Martin Luthers fødehjem.
