Best time to visit

Iceland's actual tourist season stretches from June to September, and it is also advisable to visit Geysir and Gullfoss in this period. In the summertime there are two or three months of almost constant daylight, while the sun only appears for two or three hours a day during the wintertime from November to January, and naturally you cannot see the beautiful rainbow over Gullfoss if the sun doesn't shine. Furthermore, Geysir is only roused during the tourist season.

The area around Geysir has been made a national park and is hence one of the few places in Iceland, where you cannot pitch your tent outside of the camping sites in the area. Close by the park is a hotel, though, which is open during the summer. Remember to book in advance. Besides this, the area has a lot of summer cottages, which can be rented through the tourist agency. Book your hotel in Gulfoss and Geysir here
