Port Louis Market (Port Louis)
The city's market in the heart of the city lies close to the sea. At the market you can buy fresh fish, meat, fruit, souvenirs, clothes and other stuff. If you want to buy something at the market you must be prepared to haggle over the price.
The Jummah Mosque (Port Louis)
The island's main mosque The Jummah Mosque is oddly placed in the middle of Chinatown. It was built in the 1850s and has beautifully carved wooden doors. The mosque is open for visitors each day with the exception of Thursdays and Fridays where it is closed between 10.00 to 12.00.
The Natural History Museum (Port Louis)
Most tourists come to the museum to see the stuffed specimen of the extinct bird the Dront. The Dront was an enormous species of doves and was exterminated. The Dront is not the only extinct bird that can be found at the museum, which also has an enormous library.
