Best time to visit

The resorts along the Caribbean coast have an all-year high season, so you can visit anytime you want to. Storms with heavy rainfall can occur between November and January, but they pass pretty quickly.

Local conditions

Time zone

When it is 12.00 in England, it is 05.00 by the Caribbean coast.

Culture and entertainment

There are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts and riding grounds along the coast, and what's more, the island of Cozumel is a virtual paradise for people who like to dive and snorkel. The tourist resorts have a broad selection of entertainment, discos and bars.

Accommodation / Hotel

There are plenty of places to spend to night along the coast, but it is the large hotel chains that dominate. You can easily find cheaper hotels, though, along with guesthouses and camping sites. Book your hotel in The Caribbean Coast of Mexico here

Local transport

It isn't difficult to get a taxi in the large holiday resorts by the Caribbean Sea. Notice that they don't always have taximeters, so you better agree on the price with the driver before the ride.

Other transport

The bus service on the Caribbean coast is quite good, and there's a domestic airport in Cancun. If you want to go to Cozumél, you can take both car ferries and fast boats from Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos.

Special conditions

One of the world's largest coral reefs, the Palancar reef, is situated off the island of Cozumél.
